Course Description
This introductory class is designed for complete beginners who want to learn safe and effective handgun use. Whether you're considering personal defense, recreational shooting, or simply want to become a responsible firearm owner, this course provides a solid foundation in pistol fundamentals in a supportive, low-pressure environment.
What You’ll Learn
  • Firearm safety rules and range etiquette (the foundation of everything we do)
  • Proper handgun operation, loading/unloading, and malfunction clearance
  • Correct grip, stance, sight alignment, and trigger control
  • Fundamentals of accurate shooting at various distances
  • Basic drawing from a holster (if time allows)
  • Cleaning and basic maintenance of your pistol
  • Overview of relevant laws, storage best practices, and situational awareness
Class Format
  • Classroom portion: 1–1.5 hours of instruction with visual aids and demonstrations
  • Range time: 1.5–2 hours of live-fire training under close supervision
  • Small class sizes (maximum 6–8 students) to ensure personalized attention
Requirements
  • No prior experience necessary
  • Students must be at least 21 years old (or 18 with parent/guardian)
  • Participants must be able to understand and speak English (all instruction, safety commands, and range communication are conducted in English for safety reasons)
  • Eye and ear protection required (loaners available)
